Copy Your Way to Business Success

This may sound lazy and like taking the easy way out, but why would you want to struggle and fail if all the mistakes have already been made for you?

And, why are we still accepting the faulty beliefs that unless it's hard and we don't have the battle scars to prove our heroic efforts, our success is not worthy?

I grew up with the constant conditioning that the measure of a man (or woman in my case) was determined by how hard he worked. Unfortunately, this message was drilled into the minds of many children of parents who lived through the depression.

As a result I worked hard in school, harder at work, and relentlessly at starting my first two home businesses.

It wasn't until I had the bruises, injured ego and nearly shattered confidence that I learned I was going about things all wrong.

Going it alone and starting from square one made absolutely no sense when people a hundred steps ahead of me had already traveled the same path and made it through to the other side.

Ask anyone who has achieved great success, whether in their business or personal life, and they will tell you they found a mentor or someone who already achieved the results they sought and modeled their behavior.

One of my mentors once said, "Somebody else has already done what you want to do. Recreating is nuts."

You can't beat that logic.

As you build your home business, consider the enormous amount of work you create and risk you take when you choose to learn from your own mistakes. Somebody's already paid the price so why should you repeat the lesson?

As you consider taking certain actions, ask yourself, "Who has already done this?" and seek them out. Study their lives or their businesses and learn from their mistakes so you don't have to repeat them.

Study those you want to emulate by reading their bios, purchasing their products or books, attending functions they are speaking at, or by contacting them directly and asking for guidance.

Oftentimes, I'll hear the excuse, "I don't have time."

I suggest you ask yourself what amount of time and money you will lose and what the end result could look like if you choose to do it your way - alone.

Once you've discovered the mistakes that have already been made, choose someone who represents everything you want to be, do or have then study him or her.

Find out what they're doing and then model them. Before making decisions, ask yourself, "How would so and so handle this?" This will cause you to start thinking in a different way than you've been programmed.

Begin your research today and you will quickly discover that no successful entrepreneur, teacher, athlete or leader has made it alone. They had mentors, coaches, … a hero they chose to model.

And once you understand this and adopt this new way of thinking and being, you will advance through the ladder of home business success in leaps and bounds.

5 Easy Steps to Help You Determine Your Financial Status So You Can Confidently Leave Your J-O-B

It doesn't have to be unpleasant or messy, but it does have to be done. You may be well on your way to building a full-time home-based business or may just be tossing the idea around right now, but having a clear understanding of your current and future financial commitments will play a MAJOR role in your strategic plan for business success.

Home-based business owners don't normally wake up one day and say, "Yep. I'm quitting my job today and starting a home-based business." There is usually a period of time for contemplation, exploration, making the decision, creating a plan, and then starting to execute steps within the plan to achieve the final goal.

The process can take anywhere from several months to several years before an employee is in a position to walk away from her job to begin life as a full-time entrepreneur.

Being financially responsible is critical to not only home-based business success, but to create the financial cushion required to transition from being an employee to a full-time entrepreneur.

Understanding your current financial position is mandatory and doesn't have to take more than an hour of your time if you follow the five basic steps below.

1. Calculate how much money you currently have sitting in bank accounts, investments, registered retirement savings plans, GIC's, real estate, etc. If you were to leave your job today, would there be any form of payout (ie. sick plan credit, pension plan contributions, unused holidays, anniversary pay, etc.)?

2. Determine how much you earn on a monthly basis either through employment, child support payments, rental properties, dividends, your existing home-based business, etc.

3. Record your monthly household expenses. Some examples to get you started are:

- mortgage/rent
- property tax/house and mortgage insurance
- utilities (heat/water/hydro)
- phone/cable/satellite/Internet
- yard maintenance/snow removal
- groceries and household supplies
- vehicle fuel, insurance and maintenance costs
- medical
- child care
- personal care (hair/nails/clothing)
- entertainment (movies/sports/books/plays)
- club memberships, publications, etc.

4. List your monthly business expenses, for example:

- Internet
- phone (separate business line)
- autoresponder
- shopping cart
- long distance
- bank fees
- office supplies
- tools
- web hosting
- marketing
- advertising
- part-time help
- coaching services
- shipping/postage, etc.

5. Identify your outstanding liabilities such as:

- credit card balances
- personal loans
- lines of credit, etc.

When you calculate your earnings and revenue on an annual basis and deduct your personal and business expenses. How much do you have remaining at the end of the year? Can a portion of this be put aside to build your financial cushion?

If your current business revenue isn't enough to cover your business and personal expenses and if you were to quit work today, how long would you be able to survive on your other revenue sources or savings and assets, taking into account your monthly expenses?

Have you considered all unexpected expenditures that could arise in the next year or two?

Is your car running on its last two cylinders?
Has your furnace almost reached its life expectancy?
Is your vacuum cleaner starting to growl at you?
Is your partner's job secure or do you foresee unstable times ahead?

This exercise is by no means intended to scare or discourage. Financial stability is an area that needs to be addressed so you can keep your feet firmly planted and plans realistic as you build your home-based business.

Understanding where you are and what potentially lies ahead will help you make sound financial decisions as you plan your future.

After completing these five steps, you may realize your dream to break free of your job might take a year longer than expected, or you may learn that in order to move forward at a quicker pace, you may have to bring in a partner or investor, or learn to leverage your time, money and effort more efficiently to expedite progress.

Perhaps seeking professional guidance on reducing debt and managing finances is in order?

No matter what results you generate, don't let them shake your spirit. Knowing exactly where you are financially will help you make informed, practical decisions so you can create your ideal future.

To increase your level of success at home-based business, make sure you have a financial advisor and accountant as part of your success team.

3 Simple Strategies To Build Your Home-Based Business Faster And Easier

One of the biggest mistakes new home-based business owners make is trying to do everything from square one.

You can rest assured that whatever you are attempting to do or build, it has already been done.

Sure, it probably won't be a mirror image of what you're doing, but it will have many of the same basic ingredients.

The fastest and easiest way to get your business going and growing is by finding others who have already done what you want to do and learning and benefiting from their efforts.

A local business person recently told me he was in the process of building an autoresponder. Of course, this wouldn't be a strange thing to be doing if it was a service he plans to sell, but it has nothing to do with his business!

Instead of investing a few hours to explore those autoresponders already in existence, he is investing well more than a hundred hours trying to build one on his own so he can communicate with his customers.

By conducting only a couple of hours research, he would have discovered a variety of outstanding, affordable autoresponder services that are highly sophisticated and subject to continual upgrading and improvement to keep up with ever-changing technology and consumer needs.

Imagine the kind of business he could have generated for himself if he focused those one hundred plus hours acquiring new customers for his business and expanding and improving on his products and services!

Unfortunately, like him, many new home business owners are still of the employee mindset -- that they have to work relentlessly and do everything alone.

They haven't yet developed the entrepreneurial mindset that understands you have to work smarter, not harder.

Another time-consuming task many new business owners take on is spending hours, even days, trying to design the perfect logo. I'm embarrassed to say I spent DAYS searching the Internet for sample logos, looking for ideas, then sitting and drawing possible logo after logo.

Most people have more creative flair in their big toe than I have in my entire body, yet I thought that if I put enough time into it, even though it meant not focusing on increasing business, the perfect logo would reveal itself.

I eventually abandoned the obsession and as soon as I handed the project over to my web designer, I had a new, effective and eye-catching logo within 24 hours.

It was a costly mistake. I had spent so many years working in a support capacity that I didn't know how to make the shift to a leader capacity and delegate the task.

(Even more important, I later realized, having a logo is waaaay down on the priority scale and doesn't even have to be considered during the start-up period.)

As you are starting your business, consider the following tasks and ask yourself if someone else could be doing them while you focus on building:

- designing brochures and marketing material

- creating your web site

- setting up your voice mail and e-mail

- purchasing supplies and equipment

- stuffing envelopes and taking them to the post office, or delivering flyers

- market research

- hooking up your new computer, modem, fax and installing software

- trouble shooting computer problems

- writing articles, reports or white papers

These are not revenue generating activities and if you find them challenging or time-consuming, delegate these tasks to someone else like a family member, co-op student or part-time assistant.

For the more specialized items, seek the input of a mastermind member or business colleague on how they handle those responsibilities. Also, hire or barter with experts in marketing, web design and technology.

Another wheel you don't need to re-invent is that of processes, particularly in the area of marketing.

Marketing may not be your forté, yet it is the most important element of your business, and this is where many new home business owners bury themselves.

The good news is you don't have to develop your marketing process by trial and error.

Commit several days to studying other businesses both in and outside of your industry.

How do they promote themselves? How do they collect leads? How do they convert leads?

In other words, how do they catch the attention of potential customers, get them to express an interest to learn more, and how do they get them to ultimately pull out their wallets and buy?

The quickest and easiest way to create winning processes is to study already successful businesses, then model what they do.

Sign up for their newsletters and request additional information. Let them begin a courtship with you and pay attention to what they're doing. Buy a product or two and see what tools they use to keep inviting you back for more.

This doesn't mean copy them word for word or action by action, but assimilate what works, mould it to your specific business and add the essential ingredient of uniqueness that allows you to stand out from the crowd.

These are just three simple strategies you can start with today to get on the fast-track to home business success.

Again, here they are in a nutshell:

1. Uncover what has already been created or invented, then implement or install. Don't reinvent the wheel.

2. Think like a business owner, not an employee. Delegate, hire or trade.

3. Model the processes of others who have already achieved the level of success you're seeking. They've already made the mistakes for you and know what works.

Incorporate these strategies and you will shave hours and dollars from your start-up curve and begin reaping the rewards faster than you ever thought possible.

Work at Home Common Mistakes

Many people are having great success working from the comfort of their home while others fail miserably. Why is that? I am going to make an attempt to help everyone understand the reason for this. It has a lot to do with individuals, ego, patience, objectives and due diligence.

What I have seen that appears to be common in the people that are successful is that they do their research, ensure that they get into a work at home program that meets their goals, skills sets and comfort level. They also seem to set their ego aside and utilize the step-by-step guidance while exercising patience. They realize that they will more than likely make dollars before they make hundreds of dollars and are willing to put in the effort required to reach their goal. Many times they will join 2 - 3 programs, but when they reach their goal they may be down to 1 program. They do not let a program failure or anything stop them from succeeding.

Now lets look at what I have noticed in the people that fail to make any money working from home. I will attempt to identify some of the common failures that cause this to occur and they are as follows:

1. They will often times join the first program that offers them the most money for the least effort. If it seems to good to be true than it probably is. These folks often times ending up quitting immediately saying they were scammed when they are at least partially at fault.

2. Joining programs that do not match their skill sets, time constraints or comfort levels. It does no good to join a program that you do not have the skills sets to accomplish the work required. Some will join a program, but are then not comfortable doing what is required to make money. This is our fault when this happens.

3. Some will join bad programs with the best of intentions and indeed get scammed.

4. Many will not do the necessary research to narrow down the choices so they have the best chance for success. It takes a lot of time, but it must be done unless you use a website that has done it for you.

5. A few will do their research, join 2 - 3 programs, but when they do not make any money immediately, quit feeling scammed, discouraged and more than likely not try again.

6. Many times folks will join a Home Based Business instead of a work at home program becoming very frustrated at the work involved and time required to make any money. A Home Based Business will make much more money in the end, but it will take more time to get it up, running full speed and profitable. It requires more of an investment of both time and money.

7. Many are unwilling to join paid programs or invest in themselves feeling they should not have to do so. They often believe they should not have to pay to work for someone. They are entitled to their opinion and I respect it. I believe some of the paid companies offer a service whereby it helps you go up the learning curve much faster, avoid common mistakes along the way and make money faster than you would if you chose not to use them. For me time is money. Maybe it's just me, but when I do even a simple project around the house I often times will buy a book or tape telling me how to do it. This is how I see the programs. They streamline the process and I have used many of them myself. Just my opinion.

I have mentioned a few of the major ones above, but there are others. How can we avoid them? The first thing is to understand your work at home profile as I call it. That is your current skill sets, comfort levels, income goals and time constraints. The next thing is to do your research. It must be done. I recommend either using a website like mine, but not necessarily mine, that has done some level of research for you or be prepared to spend the time doing it your self. Realize you will have to do some work whether it's from home or somewhere else to get paid. If you are looking for extra cash then a Work At Home opportunity is probably right for you. If you want to create a Home Based Business then realize up front it will take more time and money. Neither one of these should be very costly. You can typically get started into 2 - 3 programs for less than it cost for a family to go out to dinner at a nice restaurant and a movie.

No matter which path you take read the step-by-step guidance, start working from home utilizing any spare time you may have and exercise patience. The harder you work the faster it will pay off when you avoid the common mistakes.

So what should you do next? Research the web looking for programs that match your work at home profile, join 2 - 3 programs, train and start working. Give yourself a chance at success. Please feel free to read both this article or one of my many others by visiting my link in the resource box below. I always enjoy getting emails pertaining to my articles or my site. Your feedback is important to me.

I wish you the very best.

3 Powerful Ways To Guarantee You Will Make Money With AdSense

Anyone can make money online with AdSense, but your question is "how can I make money with AdSense?" There are thousands of people who throw up blogs everyday in hopes of making some real money with their AdSense, but can one actually make money from their blogs? I have written this article to give you 3 powerful ways to guarantee; you will make money with AdSense.

1. Bum Marketing: What is bum marketing? It is a form of marketing that I highly suggest anyone who is getting started in their marketing ventures who do not have the money to spend on marketing. It does take time and effort but you will make money with AdSense through this form of marketing. The way to do bum marketing is to write articles based on what your blog or website is about; then post them to article directories and link your article to your site. This will have people visiting your site and people will most likely click on your AdSense ads. The thing with AdSense is that you have to learn how to drive traffic to your site. Without traffic it does not matter how many ads you have on your site no one will be on your site to click on the ads.

Make your articles informative you want to make sure that you give people the information that they are looking for. If you can get people to read through your whole article and give them information that will help them they are more likely to visit your site. Do not just throw up a whole bunch of useless articles in hopes of driving traffic to your site. Many people do not like to use this tactic because it does take time and effort to write out good quality articles; however if done correctly you can pretty much guarantee you will make money with AdSense. I still continue to use this because it is so powerful and has doubled my AdSense earnings.

2. Email Signature: When you visit forums or other relevant blogs make sure that you post in them regularly. The power this has is enormous. One thing to remember is to only post in these areas if you can provide valuable information for people. You do not want to just post just to post. This would be considered spamming and will not help you get visitors to your site.

3. Visit Forums: This is extremely important especially for any newbie just starting out to making money online. There are certain forums that can teach you what you need to know about making money with AdSense without spending any money. One of the most popular forums is the Warrior Forum; it is a great place to begin getting all the information about how to make money with AdSense.

If you follow these three steps in how to make money with AdSense; you can guarantee that you will be making money online. Be patient it will not happen overnight and know what your goals are. With consistency and doing something everyday for your online business will move you closer towards your goals. Visit our website below to interact with other people and get more valuable information that can teach you how to make more money with AdSense.
